March 16, 2009 Dear Penacook Villagers: If you were unable to attend this past Saturday's meeting, you missed a wonderful presentation by Chief Dan Andrus of the Concord Fire Department regarding the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program. The City of Concord is embarking on this program in the hopes of having CERT trained people in all of Concord's neighborhoods. Penacook has been selected as the starting point and volunteers are needed to become the first CERT trained participants. The sum of the program is simple: Neighbors helping neighbors following an event in which emergency response professionals can't get to you. Here is a link to the CERT website which will provide more information than I could ever hope to cover in this letter. http://www.citizencorps.gov/cert/ Penacook Village Association is looking for 25 volunteers to raise their hand and say "I am willing to help my neighbors!" The training involves approximately 21-hours of your time, but the volunteers can plan out the schedule. For simplicity sake, participants will be selected on a first come-first serve basis. The first 20 volunteers will be selected and 5 will serve as alternates, or be the first 5 volunteers for the second training session. Questions, or are you ready to sign up?
