Annual Meeting Minutes

Word Version

The sixth Annual Meeting of the Penacook Village Association was called to order by the President, Kathy Bush in the Merrimack Valley High School Cafeteria following a breakfast buffet.

President Bush welcomed the 36 members and guests.

The Nominating Committee report was presented by Chairman Brent Todd.
                           For President, Kathy Bush
                            For the Board, Jack Shields
Hearing no other nominations, the slate passed unanimously as presented.

Treasurer Teri Maxwell reported that we currently have 71 individual members, 15 business members for a total of 86 members.  The Treasurers report showed that our current balance is $15,122.23

Friends of Poulin Park Committee chair Bill Smith reported that plans are progressing. Canisters have been placed in local businesses for donations, and the “Buy A Brick” initiative is moving right along.   Architect Jason LaCombe is working with the committee on the design of the gazebo, and a local contractor, Joe Spain of JA Spain Associates Inc. is donating labor.

A video of the Ribbon Cutting ceremony was shown garnering applause for our beautiful Main Street.

President Bush then introduced our featured speaker, Mayor James Bouley. Mayor Bouley stated that a community runs on four cylinders:  the residents, the business community, the public sector (city government) and the non-profits.  Far from being Concord's “Step-Child” Penacook has received eight million in community improvements.  We have a beautiful new downtown. The tannery clean-up is complete. The next step is monitoring the 6 wells in the area and finding a developer.  At this time the thought is to put the tannery in the hands of a commercial real estate broker. In the next three years Penacook will also see additional improvements in our sewer, water and sidewalks.
