Minutes for October 16, 2010 were approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Closed the month of October 2010 with 1,461.06 in the bank account. No dues income was reported and no expenses recorded. Handed out membership invoices for 2011 to those present and will mail all other invoices. Reminder individual dues $5.00 per person, business dues $25.00 per year.
Penacook Tree Lighting: The discussion opened with Liz Blanchard giving an update on the tree lighting. She will provide the microphone that will be available to everyone performing. Liz is checking to see if CCTV can tape the event and if the city will provide traffic control on Village St. The Blanchard Family and PES 5th Grade Chorus will sing holiday carols; two acoustic bands perform; and a professional flutist and 3 Middle School students will play instrumental holiday music.
Mike Cotton from the PVA event committee asked Liz to MC and will coordinate song choices and lineup of performances. A request was made for volunteers to bake cookies to be delivered to the Tree Lighting. Marje Sumner, Donna Marston, Teri Maxwell, Dianna Leary and Sherry Cotton will bake cookies for the event. The PVA will purchase hot chocolate and cider to be served during the tree lighting. A donation box will be put out to help defray the cost of beverages purchased.
Teri Maxwell purchased 2 sets of plush toys and The Grinch That Stole Christmas books to be raffled off (free) to 2 children at the end of the tree lighting.
Reminders that Penacook Library will be open and the Concord Model RR Club will display a train layout till New Year’s at the Penacook Pharmacy Building. During tree lighting ceremony, do full countdown from 10 to 1 before lighting tree.
Policy Committee and Business Committee: Committees will meet after the holidays. Any members willing to join a committee are welcome. Email Lynne at firstname.lastname@example.org and she will add your name to the committee list.
Digital Media Presentation: Kathy Bush used the Historical Society’s projector and screen to walk through the PVA website and Facebook page. Mike Cotton is looking for one or two administrators to help post information and photos in the Facebook page.
Tannery Update: Liz Blanchard reported that there is a wetland issue to be resolved prior to the Medical Building ground breaking. No word on sale of tannery lot or cleanup of waste located on the site.
The United Church of Penacook’s Holiday Fair will be open till 2pm.
The Penacook Library had many children take out books after the 2009 Tree Lighting.
