Announcements / Event Notices:
Ralph Harwood announced that it is National Library Month and, along with several activities at the main Concord library, Friends of the Penacook Library would conduct a used book sale at the Penacook branch on Saturday.
Peter Dodge announced that flower barrels would again be placed in the center of the Village. Peter will be coordinating this effort with Dave Murray of Murray Farms Greenhouse. Planting will be completed around Memorial Day. The American Legion will be maintaining Boudreau Square and the gazebo at Village and Washington Streets. Murray Farms provides the plants for these areas and the garden club at the Merrimack Valley Middle School does the planting with support from the American Legion.
The PVA visit to the Murray Farm Greenhouse will be scheduled the week before Mothers Day (May 6).
Paving of Community Drive and High Street will be done this summer. This is a temporary overlay; a more permanent rebuilding will be coordinated with water main replacement two years from now.
Beede Street reconfiguration is under discussion.
Discussion of the Farmers’ Market continued. Topics included funding and liability insurance costs, marketing events, City of Concord requirements and fees, location options, electrical power. There is a meeting scheduled for Monday with farmer participants. Details will be worked out by the Market committee before the next meeting. A silent kick off (dress rehearsal to practice setup and logistics) would be scheduled for June 7 with a well-advertised opening on June 21. The Penacook Historical Society will be contacted as a possible location. Businesses in the Village will be approached for donations to a Farmers' Market Fundraising Campaign. Kathy Bush will review a grant application to see if PVA can submit it by April 15 to support a market startup.
Ralph Harwood provided new content for the brochure and Mike Cotton will incorporate this content. A membership form will also be added to the brochure. A first edition will be available for the May meeting for distribution by members. The quarterly flyer will be postponed until there are some events to advertise. A PDF version of the brochure will be put on the website.
The American Legion has made a donation to PVA. Teri Maxwell will be responsible for sending thank you notes for donations.
The website service provider and domain name were renewed for two years.
