Mike Cotton is Penacook's Great Communicator! He deserves the 2010 Citizen of the Year Award, because thanks to Mike's efforts as Market Manager, Penacook had its first Farmers Market at the Rolfe House on Monday evenings from June through October. Mike spearheaded the fundraising efforts and orchestrated the vendors into our community. We look forward to its return next year! Mike is a founding board member of the Penacook Village Association, which was incorporated in June 09. Our mission statement is to involve citizens in enhancing the quality of life, protecting the historic character, and fostering economic vitality in Penacook Village. Our slogan is Prosper in Penacook! Mike is also chair of our Economic Development committee.
Mike published our first Penacook Village brochure, which has color photographs, information about our schools and annual events, and a taste of our rich history. Please visit our website at www.penacook.org to read this brochure and to learn more about us. Mike is also the founding publisher of our monthly community newspaper The Merrimack Valley Voice, first published in June 09. As he writes on his website www.merrimackvalleyvoice.com This paper's mission is to report on the happenings in and around Boscawen, Penacook, Salisbury and Webster N.H., focusing on the school system our children attend. This area has a rich history and is poised to spring into the future. We will report on things past and present. Feature stories of events and goings on that shape our towns and villages, the people who live and work here and the businesses that give you that personal service missing at most of the big box stores.
We will strive to be a community paper where you can contribute. Thanks to all of Mike's efforts, people can and do Prosper in Penacook.
