Ribbon cutting and rededication

On Friday September 29, 2017 at 11 AM the Penacook Village Association will hold a ribbon cutting and rededication ceremony signifying completion of construction of the new gazebo on Village Street in Poulin Park.

Dave Poulin, a City Councilor who died while in office, was responsible for the construction of the original gazebo, which had to be demolished during a recent road construction project.    The new gazebo was built with generous support of local businesses and volunteers, and with many donations from the public.

Part of the significance of the ceremony will be to provide thanks, and to officially turn the gazebo over to the City.  Mayor Bouley has offered to cut the ribbon, and the American Legion Post 31 will participate by providing flags.  Refreshments will be provided by the Penacook Village Association.

  Brief History:

PVA is leading an effort to build a new gazebo in the reconfigured Poulin Park.

Dave Poulin, a City Councilor who passed away in office, was responsible for the construction of the original gazebo.

After his death in 2001, the community raised funds for a memorial plaque and petitioned the city to rename the site Poulin Park.

Concerns Addressed

It was determined that the gazebo could not be successfully moved when the park was reconfigured during a road construction project, and it was demolished. Determined to maintain a suitable memorial to Dave Poulin who gave so much to the Penacook community, Penacook citizens coordinated the design and construction of a new gazebo. The structure and brick patio are complete and only adding benches remains in the planning stage.  PVA is accepting donations towards this effort. Checks should be made payable to the Penacook Village Association with “Poulin Park Fund” in the memo line. Mail them to: PVA, PO Box 6174, Penacook, NH 03303.
